most virus scans will only scan it but will make u purchase the software to clean it out. Is there a free software that u can download that will do both for free?

I've been told that I should defrag my computer to help it run better, except I have pretty much no computer knowledge.

What exactly is defragging?

What does it do (does it remove programs? old documents?)?

How would I go about doing it?

Any knowledge you could give me would be great. Even if something seems obvious feel free to share :-D Thanks so much!!!

I have a Dell Latitude D610. I cannot get the restore feature to work on any bold date. It goes through the motions, but in the end, it tells me that it cannot restore?

The Dive C of my notebook has a capacity of 80Gb and when the properties is accessed, it shows a pie graph with 45Gb used but when individual subfolders under crive C is accessed its capacity used summed up only 15Gb.

At the first day of 5 hours use of my new notebook, i noticed its processor did not get so hot. But now after a couple of minutes, hottness is already felt.

My new notebook (NEO Impriva 672 RVP2) has the following relevant specifications: 2Ghz, Core 2 Duo processor, 4Mb cache, 160Gb Sata hard drive

Please advise me what to do.

so you know how the history drops down for google when you start to type something? well a friend of mine was looking at some...not g rated things on my comp...and unlike the comp i usually use this one has safari so i can't go to internet opions like i could on internet explorer...*sweats* how do i erase google history??? i already tried just earasing the history but it didnt effect the google history *sweats some more* HELLPPPPP MEEEEE!

I have added more RAM, updated to Norton 2008 virus protection, defrag, ran a registry clean up and tried spybot, but the computer is still slow. Can anyone please give me anymore ideas to speed up my slow computer.

I would like to buy a very simple to install and use software tool to convert my Powerpoint presentations into a DVD that can be played on any DVD player. My presentations typically have lots of graphics, transitions, animations, and music/sounds. When i attach the document to an email, the .xls reappears after the .XLS. If I remove the .xls. the content of the document is lost. My supervisor wants to receive the document as .XLS. How do I handle this one?

Downloaded Norton Internet Security 2008
through my bank which gives a discount and
once downloaded when I brought Norton Security
up it stated that anti virus protection is not activated.
What went wrong as the download took about an
