I'm backing up some software,a cd rom that i own, should i burn it as an iso?I'm just kinda confused on what kinds of situations you would burn as an iso and dont know if there is a difference when it comes to different types of data like a word document, graphics, music,or games, any advice on that?

Personally, I like to copy the original files in to data and/or video files. The one circumstance that I burn an image file (i.e. .iso) is if I plan to mount the copy. For example, I know many people who make an image of a game CD and then mount the image file using Daemon Tools to play the game. Or, if you want to copy a DVD movie and create an image of the DVD then use a DVD drive emulator (e.g. Alcohol 120%) to play the movie.
