Yes, I just opened both sites, because I have an antivirus program used by the Govt. Of China, with a realtime scanner that will kill any embedded trojan or spyware in a second found on any webpage or file download.

The webpages are 100% clean. I also traced with my "SmartWhois", out of New Zealand

The site is real.

Definitely not safe.

EDIT:
More info from McAfee SiteAdvisor
http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/checkmessenger2.net
An MSN contact of mine has this...every time he signs in 8 pop ups saying:
"www.checkmessenger2.net has just signed in"
It steals your MSN password and controls your account to attempt to persuade contacts on that account to join.
Has many clones, stay away!!!
If you do a search for that site you will see other users trying to find out how to uninstall it.

Stay away from those sites.
