Last night my mom ordered Norton again, because our sub. was running out. Well, the lady she was talking to said that she would renew us for 30 days while we waited for the stuff to come in the mail and we'd still have protection. Anyway, when I woke up this morning I tried doing something online, and the computer was running really slow, so I tried restarting it and now it keeps shutting itself off saying there was a problem. It did this last time my mom renewed Norton, and now we don't know what to do. I really don't want to lose all the files and stuff we have, we just went through that a few months ago. Is there anything I can do? I can't even get to the desktop before it shuts itself off, so don't tell me to click start and do something, I can't get to that point.

As the comp first boots .... just after it beeps ... press the F8 key (like every second) until you get a window giving you the option to boot in "Safe Mode" .... Log on as Administrator .. that should allow you to at least back everything up ... and may even allow you to uninstall Norton and download AVG ... http://www.free.grisoft.com ..... Good Luck
