Tech support said I should get more memory to help my computer run smoother, since I have a huge processor, and my one 512 stick I have is only reporting 504. I ordered a 1 GB, but am inexperienced as to putting it in (which looks pretty straightforward) but am worried about the effect of switch memory sticks on my computer, as I do use this to work on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This problem has me really got me pulling my hair out.
My network consists of 16 clients and 1 server, all running Xp Pro. I have them divided into three groups all connected together using three 8 port switches, with one switch getting the internet connection from a D-Link router. I have been using this setup for years without any problem, but my 8 port switches are getting old.

So, i decided to purchase a 24port Edimax switch. Since i want to test it out before doing any major UTP rewiring, i connected the group closest to the router, directly to the 24 port switch (removing their 8 port switch out of the network). then i connected the two other 8 port switches to two ports on the 24 port switch.
i run a ping test on yahoo.com (ping yahoo.com -t) on all the clients and everything seems to be working fine. after a few minutes, one or more will timeout for quite awhile while maintaining local connectivity. i changed to Cnet 24 port, same problem. if i bring back my 8 port, no prob

Ok, I tried to install Vista on my old Compaq computer. Originally the computer had Windows 98, I upgraded as soon as XP came out, and it is currently running Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 2.

These are the minimum system requirements listed on the Microsoft website for running Vista:
1) 800 MHz processor and 512 MB of system memory
2) 20 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
3) Support for Super VGA graphics
4) CD-ROM drive
As far as I can tell the only requirement that my computer doesn’t meet is the 512 MB of system memory. I believe that I only have 256 MB of system memory. Please don’t answer that Vista sucks, or stick with XP. I also don’t really want to use any type of emulator unless it looks exactly the same. I tried Vista Transformation Pack, and I’m just not happy with the way that it looks. So, all in all I need to either find a way to fool my computer or install more system memory, I’m not willing to put more than $50 into the memory.

Hi

I bought a SUMO 360gb external drive a few weeks back. It was working fine until this morning when I started my computer and a box appeared saying "USB device not recognised - one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise it". Nothing started this....it just stopped working. I've tried the trouble shooter and tried with 3 computers all with no success.
How can I fix this....the drive has all my photos and music on and I have no back ups!
Thanks

Luke

I placed an order with scientificonline using Google Checkout. Well, they never got the order from Google and Google has charged my credit card. The only thing I can find on the Google website about this is that I need to contact the merchant to cancel the order which I tried but since they never received it they can't. That leaves Google thinking all it OK. But it's not! There appears to be no way to contact Google Checkout to explain the problem. I will NEVER USE GOOGLE CHECKOUT AGAIN. I know I am shouting. I hope the entire world here's it. Does anyone know how to contact a real person at google?

I accidentally clicked the button "Sort by Name", and got all my listed favorites in alphabetical order, not grouped by subject as I like them.

How do I get the Favorites list back to where it was, without retyping everything? (Win xp)
