a week ago my computer started acting weird i get a pop up every 3 minutes that says i need to download a "anti-virus" when i click no it goes away and clicking yes brings you to an online page showing a "scan" of my computer telling me that it is in critical condition and to remove all infected files i must download thier program...................
i know this is b.s. but when these started poping up i lost all administrative powers on my computer. i have no access to control panel or any .cpl files. i cannot find a back door of any kind, a warning saying to contact the system administrator is displayed as soon as i try.........
i tried booting it in safe mode with networking and instead of going right to windows it gives me the option to log on as owner (normal) or administrator (owner was administrator and this option was never there before) but even as administrator i cannot access anything. registry is locked too.........

I had an error message saying "checksum error. CPU may have been changed". I could bypass this by just pressing F1. To remove this message i loaded fail-safe defaults, however after that i got stucked to a black screen immediately after the second page before Windows XP logo appears

I recently bought an Xps 210 desktop for my room, I'm not a seriously intense gamer but i do like playing 3-d games on them. Will my Intel Duo core (2Ghz, 800Mhz) be fast enough to play things like racing simulators? And if it isn't can i change the processor to something faster with more Ghz?

P.s. I have 2 Gigs of RAM

Computer has internet connection through a "Netopia" router. There's 4 Ethernet ports on the back.. The computer is plugged into one port, the Xbox360 into another.... How do i configure my router to enable the Xbox360 to share the internet with my computer???

If i have only one C: drive partitioned. I install wndows on my pc and then take a copy of everything under C: using copy-paste in another machine. Can I later bring back my pc to this orginal condition by deleting all files and and copying the files from my backup.

I have downloaded a movie, and its not playing.......
i tried using DivX player and it says "no video file"
i tried using VLC and the time bar moves but no picture and no sound?
i have also tryed hyplay and it sais "no codec found on system"
I can play all other files no problem.. i am stummped

please help me!

I am trying to convert files from AVI and Windows Movie, to DVD format before burning them.
The converter I am using is fine, however it is converting them from 1 file (AVI/Movie) into 3 files (DVD).

Obviously I can't burn them to disk this way...

So do I shrink the original file before converting, or is there a program which will do everything, convert, shrink and burn?
