Why does it take a long time for my computer to transfer items(pics, doc, etc.) into another file, floppy-disk, or into a CD. What can I do to increase the transfer speed? I do not have any software or programs installed into the computer. Do I need to buy a newer processor? or what do I need to buy?

I had the free AVG free antivirus and it would come up on a regular time to update my virus scan. Now I no longer see the icon on the bottom of my screen and it no longer does the updates. It is still located on my desktop though. I had added what I thought was a free firewall, is that AVGw, that is also on my desktop now. Please help, I'm not young and still trying to learn the right way. What has gone wrong, can anybody help me.

I have a IBM ThinkPad - R61; I wonder if the Apple Airport would work with this computer? If I do buy an airport - it will allow me to connect to the internet? Most importantly, I want to use it to send music to a stereo system via Itunes... This is all possible? What Airport would you recommend? And, will I need to buy anything in addition to the Airport itself to make it work? Thank you

I have been playing with the beta for Lotus Symphony and would like to know if there is a way to undock the document tabs at the top. "Why!?!" you say? Well I work in a multiple monitor environment and sometimes would like to have an excel / word document open on different monitors.

I am a college student and I want to get my first ever computer! Please don't laugh...

My mom had a computer from 1997, but it finally commited suicide by blowing up.

I have a budget of 650$, that is slightly flexible, but not by much.

I do not care about graphics or gaming or sound quality or if I can burn cd's, watch dvd's or anything like that. I do want wifi capability.

Basically, I need a reliable computer I can do my schoolwork on. Please help me! If you have a positive experience with a certain brand, or a negative experience, please dish! I have a really good friend to help me out, but I want to know what ya'll have to say!

I wont an IBM ThinkPad T30 in a work auction. It came with a docking station, a broken LCD and recovery disks. My thought was to use it as a desktop by hooking my existing monitor, mouse and keyboard to the docking station. When I plug in the monitor it doesn't recognize the computer (and vice versa). I'm not sure if this has to do with the fact that there is no operating system on it. How can I get the monitor to work on this laptop. It boots up and holds a charge just fine, but I can't move forward without being able to see what is happening.

Hi my friend has a laptop from Duracom. The computer boots fine and she is able to logon. However, once she logs on the only thing that is viewable from the screen is the desktop picture. The start button and the desktop icons are nowhere to be found. I was able to open task manager and explorer.exe is at 100%. Does she need to add more memory or is this virus related?

Steve Jobs and all his other Mac workers love to make fun of Microsoft always saying they steal things from them. What a total lie. Microsoft has saved Apple countless times especially in 1997 thanks to Bill Gates. Apple was almost forced into bankruptcy and now to save themselves they make all this new icrap. ipods and iphones, etc. Seriously without Windows I believe mac would fail. Microsoft has made all sorts of programs for Mac. Micorsoft office and so on. And Apple finally realized how many people like Windows that they now make it so you can run Windows on a Mac. Why would you want to do that when you can go and buy a windows for less then half the price of a Mac. A true computer fan can see that Apple is struggling.

Anyway back on subject. Windows Vista is NOT a complete rip of Mac OS X and I have proof!!!
