I am trying to do an online virus scan using TREND online virus scan. Everything starts okay and as soon as it says "updating malware information" the status bar starts flashing erratic and it jumps back and forth from 11 minutes left to 21 minutes left. Can anyone tell me how I can make the online scan work. Thank you

My PC bought Jan 2006. PC came with 56K. ITU v.90 modem, but i have cable connected. Why is it still slow? friend suggested might be a virus which is not removable by my McAfee (Security center) antivirus. Windows IE keeps freezes. When 1st turn on PC, takes ages to open 1st email. Also have system mechanis 6 installed. It didn't detect problem hence problem is not fix. PC still has A LOT of memory & huge hard drive capacity. SM6 always indicate speed as FAIR.

Best to back up using HDD? which brand? how to back up? (steps please), Flash USB ok?

What's a safe and EASY wipe out? read Norton partition utilities. Since already using McAfee,, does it have similar software? Original windows XP (Home) came with PC, don't want to loose this cause I don't have the disk.

I have good basic knowledge of PC functions, email and internet). IS this enough for me to do the back up and wipe out myself?

Help! Don't want to have another PC crashed on me! *thanks

If you are so smart what would you do to set up iscsi boot for Windows XP diskless stations and without spending a penny over the cost of windows licensing LEGALLY? I can do it, can you? List every step or it doesn't count.

I want to connect it to my xbox 360 and then have it connect to my wireless access point. I guess I need it to act as a wireless-ethernet bridge. Does anyone know if I need to configure the settings to be able to do this or if I can just plug it in and have it work right from the start and how would i configure them?

Last Friday, I could still get my USB printer and USB flash drives to work, but since yesterday, my printer and flash drive could not be read by any of my three USB ports and I've learned that there is no Universal Bus Controllers in the Device Manager of my laptop. What could be the problem?

my laptop has been crashing alot lately, a blue screen occurs showing some memory dump error and it shuts off and restarts, then it makes the computer beep sound , and in the dos start up screen with the start up details below it says 0200: fixed disk error press f1 to continue , afterwards it shows an error about the ethernet cable.
the only fix i know is i have to disable and re-enable the network driver from the f10 setup menu and then it works but this crashing has been happening a lot lately can anyone please tell me how to clear it up for good ?

I have a ADSL modem that connects to my PC via a USB cable. I want to go wireless without getting an ADSL Wireless Router/Modem but using my Netgear wireless router(no modem). I have enabled ICS on my pc and when I plug the ethernet cable from it to my laptop, I can access the net from the laptop. However, when I connect the PC to my wireless router, I cannot get onto the internet from my laptop. I can connect to the wireless network but no internet. WHY?

In my laptop LAN settings (in IE),I have enabled it to automatically detect settings. This is the setting it works on when I bypass the router and plug the ethernet cable directly into it from my PC. My router too has been configured to automatically detect settings...

The other thing is that I can access my router's configuration page by typing in www.routerlogin.net on my laptop.this however works for a couple of minutes then stops working. I can't access the settings anymore.just get the 'this page cant be displayed' error.HELP
