I am in Europe, using a high quality voltage converter rated for computer use. I have a 3-year old Sony Vaio desktop running Windows XP. Everything has worked fine for the last 10 months. However, recently, I would come back after the monitor went into energy saving mode, and pressing the Enter key would not bring it back to life.

I have tried checking all the connections to see if anything is loose. When I switch on the computer, the monitor only comes on about 1/3 of the time, even though I can see the green light, indicating it has power.

Otherwise, the monitor works perfectly. Previously, it only required a little bit off fiddling to get the monitor to spring back to life, but now it doesn't respond. I have gotten in the habit of leaving the computer on most of the day (since the monitor goes into sleep mode to save power). I wonder if this is contributing to the problem.

I reformated my computer and my plug-and-play hard drive doesn't appear in the list of hard drives in "My Computer." Why can't I access the information inside, even though the computer realizes that there is a drive connected to it. Even though I formatted, I downloaded all the updates I could from microsoft. Thanks for the help!

My (really) old laptop was giving me lots of headaches so I got a new PC, but did not purchase the microsoft office counting on the old one I have .So I installed it in my new PC, but I can't actually use it as I don't have the 25-digit product key for my original CD. How can I find out what the code is from my laptop?

a normal CD when full cannot be used again...i've heard that there are softwares which allow us to rewrite normal CDs. Is this true? which softwares do this? where will i get them from?

when it goes on and off i dont just mean the display but the power too
i cant be the power outlet because all the components i.e. processor and the speakers work fine

the other day i restarted my comp and a blue page came up saying, the windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly W/ a status of C000021A 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000). now when i turn on my comp the power light comes on as normal, and can open my cd drive, but nothing happens with the comp screen. what can i do without spending alot of money to get this problem fixed?

A little window keeps popping up saying " windows explorer has stopped working".....and it also says that it is searching for a solution to the problem! Whenever it pops up it freezes my computer, and it takes me forever just to check my emails!I tried to do a anti-spyware thing, but it didnt help!!

Hey im trying to translate letters and numbers in to hex code. I dont know anything about it but I am trying to enter a wireless network where the wep password is the same as the network name (kernowstore2) in hex code!

Someone won some of my auctions for the total price of 330 USD. They unregisted from Ebay prior to paying. These same items sold to another Ebay user (exactly the same purchases). I went to address the box and realized it was the same person who won these items the first time...they had just recreated themselves and ended up paying a lower price this time ($246).

What do you think I should do? I am feeling pretty spiteful right now over being tricked by this person. I am guessing that Ebay wouldn't allow me not to follow through on this transaction. Does anyone know what my options are?

Does anyone have a good program for monitoring the wireless network and "disconnecting"/kicking, and even kick+message to a computer that connects to the wireless network.
