I'm in the market for a new graphics card myself. I've been looking at the 7600 GS and the 8600 GT. The 7600 GS looks like a decent card but it is only DirectX 9 while the 8600 is DirectX 10 compliant. While game vendors aren't jumping on DX 10 yet, I believe I'll purchase the 8600 GT to ensure future compatibility.
The link below includes a benchmark for where the 6600 GT stands compared to other cards typically available today.

i agree with Jim Maryland, the DX10 move is unavoidable. (in the long run). Get a GTS or GTX graphics card to keep you running through the change, their reasonably priced and offer great performance.

The 220gt is about 5 to 6 times better than the 6600. So yes it is higher.

i guess it depends on what your going to use it for...
but in general that card is pretty old and wouldn't make for a good gaming card.
