They are called ASCIIs (pronounced A*S-KEYS, yeah downright funny).
Hold down the ALT button and hit a button the keyboard,
like the numpad. º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø make sure the numpad lock is down or it will use the other controls. Like these:
•◘○♦♣♠☺☻♥+-*/\/?><,.@'#~:;[]{}=_)(&^$£"! ¦`¬|QWERTYUIOPASDFGHJKLZXCVBNM
For the others, you need to paste them and store them in a file.
ALT-GR function ASCIIs are not available from the keyboard on Windows Vista.

hold alt and press some number on the numpad. Look for ASCII (thats two i's at the end) code lists. Find the symbol you want and hold alt then type in the ascii code.

Hold alt then type numbers on the num. pad. The one on the right side of the keyboard (On a Dekstop PC not a laptop). Then release alt. If you want to know what number combonations do what go here:

use character map in windows
follow this path
start menu-> all programs-> accessories-> System tools-> character map
you 'll find lots of funny characters there...just change the font and many new will come up...select the one you like, copy it and paste it to wherever you like
