I have a Dell Dimension from 2001. Windows XP.

my computer seems to start normally then up comes options like
SAFE MODE
SAFE MODE WITH COMMAND PROMPT
START WINDOWS NORMALLY
etc..
then a blue screen
"a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer etc...
then it says
Stop: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x8E3B820, 0xC0000102 0x00000000)

this is the second time its happened and i think its because i have blown my hard drive
i downloaded a game
it crashed
then i shut down my computer by holding down the button

urgently need help :(

i mean because it would be extremely easy for whoever is selling the computer to put some kind of virus or worm or spyware or something on there.

maybe if you bought it and then did a clean install of the OS?

second question: do you get a good value when buying a computer off ebay?

I have used IE7 for a while now, I was using it today when I got the internet explorer needs to close, sorry for inconvienience and do I want to send an error report, so I sent one and then re-started up IE7 ... Same thing.

So I shut down and turn my PC back on, and still the same.

I don't think it's a virus as I have norton IS 2007, and have done a full system scan.

Please no things like use Firefox is better. I want to fix the problem not replace IE7.

Currently I am using my other PC, and I know there is nothing wrong with the internet connection.

ok so i have scanned my computer with mcafee virus scan, noadware 5.0, spybot SD, and stinger yet none have fixed my problem. My connection to my router is fine yet my computer gives me the limited or no connectivity icon. i use ipconfig and i get an ip of 0.0.0.0 i click the lan propertites and click tcp/ip settings then set my ip to some random one 192.168.1.XXX and then it asks for DNS server. How can i find the DNS servers name or is there anyway to fix this problem i have confirmed that it is not my network card because i put in a usb ethernet adapter and got the same problem. Is this a Virus is there anyway to fix this short of wiping the HDD and re-installing XP. also would setting windows settings to default help any. ive already put my computer to the earliest restore point i could. Please help me

I have a few things stuck in my add/remove programs. Really heavy things like games. I've tried using the Tweak program but that doesn't have an option to remove things from add/remove. Can anyone suggest a good free program to use to force remove things from add/remove menu. Thanks

i was in this website & my antivirus, w/c is already expired, notified me that this site has phishing capability & warned me to block from browsing. Out of curiousity, I entered the site & there was a message there that it is hacked. Is my computer invaded? I know im a risk taker but im worried now what will happen. I have a new Pavilion desktop from HP running Vista Home Premium, and I want to reformat the entire drive. (I'm just quirky and don't trust that HP installed all my drivers and stuff right, and I just want a fresh start). I've made my recovery discs, and they seem like they work. So when I go to reformat, can I just delete the recovery partition and work with one full partition? Thanks in advance.

I have a 1GB SanDisk jump drive. After deleting a bunch of files, the capacity did not change. I am now only using 525MB (added size of the 3 folders), but says that I have only 31MB left. I tried emptying my trash, ejecting the drive and reinserting, but still says 31MB. What gives?

I have been using my Windows XP for 4 years now. So I later desided to create a different user for the Windows.

Like 3 days after I created the user, it kept asking me to activate the windows.
