I did forget to mention I have an "F" drive now, which I've not had before. I tried to burn a CD this weekend.. it didn't work.

Here's a start:
1. Right click My Computer, and select properties.
2. Choose the Hardware tab and press the Device Manager button.
3. Look for an item with an exclamation point by it, if you don't see one, right click any item and select 'Scan for hardware changes.'
4. Once you can see the device (it will probably have an exclamation point by it) right click it and select Update Driver.
5. Follow the wizard.

Right-click on My Computer and then click manage. In computer management click on Disk management. Chances are when you installed the new burner it automatically assigned it drive letter d. Find the Cd-rom drive in the disk management window and right-click and select change drive letter. Pick another letter like F or Z or something not being used. This should bring back your D and E drives.

Go into the BIOS setup utility (F2 at startup).

In there you should be able to see if your drives are even being detected. If they are not, then you have to make sure your jumpers are correctly set on the back of the drives.

There will be settings for Master, Slave, and cable select. Make sure one is master another is slave (On the same cable) or they are both cable select.

Go to control panel/system/hardware, and see if you can find missing hardware.
