I have a new Pavilion desktop from HP running Vista Home Premium, and I want to reformat the entire drive. (I'm just quirky and don't trust that HP installed all my drivers and stuff right, and I just want a fresh start). I've made my recovery discs, and they seem like they work. So when I go to reformat, can I just delete the recovery partition and work with one full partition? Thanks in advance.

Let me add: I think I can install it better than HP because HP has deceived me and done plenty of things wrong up to this point. They also screwed up my laptop I got two years ago, and I never realized the correct video card driver wasn't installed until I finally wiped everything and did it myself.

Also, I ask because I don't want to recover to a "snapshot" of my computer when I got it. I want to be able to install only the software I want on here, and only the latest drivers from the manufacturers. I hope that makes sense. HP didn't give me all the latest drivers installed on this computer even though I just got it a few weeks ago.

I guess since you have created the recovery DVDs, you can get rid of the recovery partition, but I don't think it's a good idea though.

U think that you can install the system better than that manufacturer but have to ask if it's OK to delete recovery partition.

I would advise AGAINST doing so . . . .

The only way to TEST recovery discs is to use them, the act of which returns the PC to esxactly as it was delivered, ie NO DATA.

Which means Windows installed as it was, same drivers etc etc etc

Recovery partition is an image of the system aas built

What happens if you lose the disks? I could happen.
