I am using Aspire 5634 for more than 6 months, but this last two months I noticed that the system date is not updating while the unit is off and also the time looses about 5 minutes in an hour or two of running the unit.

Just replace the CMOS battery. It is usually a CR2032 lithium cell. Some camera stores even have it. Pretty cheap. Bought a pack w/ 2 pcs for $.75 last week.

All laptops have a small battery inside them that keeps date and time along with other info when the machine is turned off. But I have done a little research and many people have the same model Acer and have reported the same issue. Your machine should still be under warranty call acer and set up a depot repair while you warranty is still in effect. It could be a bad batch of CMOS batteries or a bad system board. I have an Acer c314xmi and have had 1 system issue with it. And it was a replacement for my C300 which they could never fix. So I know first hand that they have quality control issues.

- go to www.download.com
- download atomic clock sync
- done
when you download it - click on file - file menu opens - click on start with windows - this will keep yr computer synchronized with atomic clock in boulder (colorado)
battery is supposed to be replaced after 5 years of life - it is small battery - same type used for watches and calculators
- not on new computer - anyway this will keep yr time/date synchronized
