You're better off buying all the parts, used or new, and assembling it yourself.

Highly unlikely they would hurt their hard earned reputation. Each seller is awarded stars by performance as a seller. These stars are generated by the buyers, Ebay then allots the awards as they are earned.

When buying off Ebay, read all the guff the seller is saying about the product he/she is selling. Any questions, ask the seller.

Things like "Looks Good" does not say it works. "Good condition a few wear scratches, system works well, screen is good, boots up like new each time." does. Ask if there are things like is the sound card okay, particularly if it is a laptop.

Basically if you do your homework with the seller, it should turn out to be a pleasant experience.

1. True, it probably would be easy.

2. That is precisely what I do when I purchase a used computer, eBay or otherwise.

3.I did, but I'm sure that there are some scams out there. You need to keep yourself educated about computers and how much they are worth.

I was looking for a laptop on ebay, i discovered that most aren't much cheaper. I also wanted a reliable one that was new so I just bought it right from the Apple store. It always depends on who is selling it. . .
