My (really) old laptop was giving me lots of headaches so I got a new PC, but did not purchase the microsoft office counting on the old one I have .So I installed it in my new PC, but I can't actually use it as I don't have the 25-digit product key for my original CD. How can I find out what the code is from my laptop?

Get Office 2003, full edition (not the "update" edition). It will come with *almost* the latest versions of all of the applications. Office 2K is so old that it isn't supported anymore.

Call Microsoft. They are trained to "believe the customer" so you shouldn't have any problems if you registered the software.

Try the free belarc advisor, just install, run it and it should show you your XP, and office key.
