You know how there is AGP 2x, and 4x and 8x.
is there such thing as just AGP? im worried because i have a 2002 pc and i want to get an AGP graphics card but im not sure what x i have. like x2, or x4 or x8.

My building is wired with a T-1 line with free internet provided by the owner. I'm trying to set up my wireless router so I don't have to run cat-5 cable all through the apartment, but it doesn't seem to pick up a new/valid ip. However the connection works fine if I plug the laptop directly into the wall jack. Anyone able to help?

I have a game that I like to play and I was able to start my own server and have my friend join on my server. Now I got a wireless router so my upstairs pc could get internet, that works. However when i start my game on the wirelessly connected computer and I start my own server my friend can't join. I can join others games fine but I can't join his and he can't join mine, he is using a laptop connected via router too. It doesn't only happen with the game either anything that we try to connect via ip address we can't am I giving the wrong ip address or whats going on here?

I am currently building my computer, STILL, and recently I called ECS asking how to get it to work. It will actually turn on now, but I will have to create a short and use the switch in the back to turn it on and off instead of the power button. Anyway, the new problem is that I think one thing the tech rep had me do erased the BIOS from the mobo. Does anyone know how to get it back on?
Mobo: ECS nForce 570 SLIT-A v3.1
I saw something on the ECS website about downloading and booting from a floppy, but the one I built and the one I'm typing on do not have floppy drives. Would it work with a CD?
Also, the computer won't function with the power supply fan plugged in, I think the plug shorts it out. How long could it run without a power supply fan and how could I fix this?

I do not have any major or extreme activities or functions that require very high internet. But right now I have Charter and I am thinking of switching to Bellsouth (6 megs). The Bellsouth is $4 higher per month. I already have the modem. Thanks for any help. Thanks for any advice and/or help.

Ok, my family is upgrading our Desktop PC. As resident nerd, I was nominated for the task, the bad news is I'm not a computer nerd, and as such, don't know what I'm doing. I would like to build a respectible rig, and not hurt our wallets too much (under a grand definately, under 700 is the ideal) Below is a brief list of specs for my current PC. like my internet goes slow and everything goes slow. i know is not because of the prgram i install. There is no virus on my computer. but i did install skybot and anti-virus protection. What's the reason why my computer gets slow? What should i do to change? i was wondering to buy new graphic card, but there might be another reason why my computer is slow.

my current monitor is on it's way to the scrap heap. and have been looking for somethink new.

going to use it mostly for games, and movies. but what should i go for, i'm stuck!! a farily larde, high quality lcd screen, which will have a much better image quality, and i can trust the company.

Here are the problems:

1. I tried saving the info on a flash drive that said it's windows 98 compatible but the computer would not recognize flash drive
2. Burning the data onto a cd is not working using easy cd creator
3. The computer does not have winzip and there are way too many files to email without winzip

Any ideas out there help please!!!

Why have notebook companies not caught on to the concept, that the more customizable it is, the more they sell?!?!

That is what sold me on the Sony C Series. because it comes in colors you want, and with matching mouses.

I know it is supposed to be easier to get wireless to work now in Ubuntu 7.04. I have a Linksys card, BCMWL5 or something like that. I got the two files copied to my desktop. I typed all that stuff into the terminal. Yet, it says its there and working I can never get a connection. I type everything in correctly. I got ndiswrapper to work and all that stuff. I'm so confused! I got this to work on an early version of Ubuntu.....What should I do? Any links I can use? I've already searched Ubuntu....no help...Please Help!!

I was running CCleaner and I was unistalling some useless programs and many of those would require to restart the computer. With the last thin I've unistalled, it restarted my computer and when I put my password to access my xp professional account, it just wouldn't let me!
It says: you can't log in due to this error: parametre incorrect. Trust me I've tried it a zillion times I don't know what to do I need my computer! I can't access through other account because mine is the only one! Please help!

Does anyone know another operating system I can use to work on my mac with . I tried a linux OS but I don't know how to do it. It says the application cannot be opened because the application program that created it cannot be found. ( it says that when I download a Linux OS and try to use it on the mac. The mac is an imac G3 333mhz with i think 128mb and I think either a 6gb or 8gb HD.

I use 'disk keeper' lite to defrag my computer but it is now running really slowly, taking about 4 hours to check a 30gb drive.

Would shutting down some programmes help?

Every time I switch off my PC, I have to re-install my sound card. When I turn it on, sounds like windows logon and MSN alerts work, but music and videos dont and when I try and open things like iTunes I get a problem with audio/video config error.

If i double click the speaker in the task bar it says no active mixer devices available.
My sound card still appears in device manager.

Re-installing the driver app fixes this, but why do I need to do this after every reboot?


PS this start a while ago so I cant system restore point.
