If you mean can you have DSL without having a physical phone connection running to your home, then the answer is No. But since cable internet is considered broadband then the answer would be yes you can, as long as there is a cable service provider that has a internet signal reaching to your home you can get it without phone.

If you mean can you have DSL without having it attached to telephone service from the provider, the answer is Yes (to a degree). It varies from provider to provider and I believe at one time congress was attempting to put some provisions in place to force this option. But it is called a dry-loop, where the DSL signal is sent to your home but you don't get any dial-tone service for telephones. Verizon definately does this but charges a little bit more for the internet service than if you were to bundle it with the phone, its still less than having both though.

Of course you can! If you get it from BT (UK) then you will have to install it yourself.

I have Virgin Broadband, I have NEVER had a phoneline.

My friend has BT Broadband, he doesnt have a phone either.

Yes you can,
Get cable.
in the UK ( Virgin Media / Telewest / NTL )

aDSL uses a phone line.
Cable (dsl) uses a deditcated coax / fibre connection from the cable company.

Cable internet offers faster speeds than aDSL anyway.

Only if you are living in a city centre where Wireless Network is available. There are companies like Cloud (http://www.thecloud.net/) who can provide you with this service.

The alternative is to talk to your neighbour if they can allow you to use their Internet connection for a small fee.

Hope this helps.
