I know many people have asked this question, but I'd like specifics. Namely, learning a new operating system (Mac) scares me, and Windows Vista does too. I'd like to know what brand/model/extras I should invest in for college.

I will be a freshman at The Ohio State University studying in the biological sciences, maybe majoring in veterinary medicine, pathology, or molecular genetics (aka probably an 8 year program).

I'm not a big fan of the keyboards on laptops, along with the many problems they tend to have (overheating, theft, etc) but a desktop will take up much more room.

My final concern is the question; PC v. Mac. I understand that Macs have very few viruses and the system is relatively easy to learn, but my biggest concern is OSU doesn't have a strong tech support for Mac users. Also, what is the dish on Windows Vista. I've heard some horror stories, will it/has it gotten any better?

In overview it doesn't mention anything about Mac but previous page it mentions something about mac in requirement. I click Launch Housecall and it takes forever and ever and it's not working I keep trying, am I on a wrong link? Can someone tell me what are some good places to check for virus for mac??!?? I am so clueless about these things.

I've been using the Zoom PCI Cable Modem (model 5001) for several years now. I recently did a mjor upgrade of my computer including Vista. Unfortunately, the manufacturer only has drivers up to WinXP, and only as an .exe file. What I need are the .inf driver files contained in the .exe. When the .exe unpacks, it creates files called data1.cab and data2.cab. However, I can't look into these files with WinZip or WinRar. Please help me with this as the manufacturer (Zoom) won't. Thanks.

I want to place a larger hard drive in my computer, then move everything - operating system and all other programs - over to the larger hard drive. The new hard drive will be inside the computer, not external. Is there a program, maybe freeware, that can do this, or is this something that Microsoft Windows XP Pro can do for me? I am fast running out of space and it is causing me problems. Any help you can give is appreciated.

Everytime when i sign-on to my computer a windows system 32 will pop up, then a message bar will pop up indicating that there is bad imageing. we have a laptop with a dvd burner. it's been great to burn lots of data to one disc like pictures and home movies. they make great gifts to our parents. but the thought hit me- if i can burn home movies and pictures and such, isn't it theoretically possible to burn a dvd movie to a blank dvd with my laptop? i wouldn't even know how to do this as i have just mastered putting my home videos on a dvd. i am not so good with computers...lol!
