Yes, but not easy enough for mom and dad or brothers and sisters to do unless they are really really good at computers. But here are some ways:

If they have already been running a traffic logger of osme sort then yes because it creates a list as you go to places but that is rarely used in homes, mostly in businesses.

The harddrive can be analyzed and deleted files can be recovered (multiple phases of a file actually) and the history can be found that way.

Ways to prevent: after clearing your cache cookies and history run a program called Eraser to wipe the free space of your drive, thus making it impossible for old deleted files to be retrieved. link below:

as for network traffic monitoring that coudl be done either on the computer, or on the r outer if its advanced enough to put linux on it. Again it's rare, but the problem is if done right, you cannot detect traffic logging.

Running Eraser after you have deleted all questionable material will help quite a bit.

Good luck.

PS also go to www.truecrypt.org
its the BEST encrypted volume software. it basically lets you mount a drive letter that is tied to an encrypted blob of data. if you store your personal stuff on that, then it's only between you and God at that point.

oh and for anonymous internet traffic (as anonymous as you can get it) go to http://tor.eff.org/

Good luck!

Nothing you do on line is ever really deleted. Your visited websites are on the mainframe, which I like to call "in the Universe," but I don't know if an individual can access them.
