I don't know much about networking and thought I would ask this question, although it may sound trivial to most.

Basically I am wondering if I connect my laptop and desktop to a linksys modem box, can I use the programs from computer to computer? For example, I have Photoshop on my desktop and don't want to place it on my laptop so can I network my computers so I can use the program like this?

If using programs is not possible I am curious if networking is mainly for sharing documents?

I borrowerd a CD from my friend and foung out that there are more song than I thought. For example, if I burn a CD from iTunes, it only fit around 30 songs, but my friend has like 100-200 songs. What is the program that he use? Also, where can I download it for free?

ok i currently have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800 (2.00GHz), and was thinking about buying a Intel Celeron D 356 (3.33GHz) Socket 775 FSB533 512KB Retail Boxed Processor, and i have this question... will it make my computer better for games like half life 2 episode 1? and if not is there any proccesors that will?, also i have a dell dimension e521 computer if it makes any difference...

I recently bought a Linksys 2.4 GHz Wireless N router. I hooked it up to my desktop and it works fine (slightly slower than when the PC was hooked directly to the model, but that's another story).

I set it up to work wirelessly with my laptop, but that's where the problem is. I renamed the network to something I was familiar with like the installation told me to, and I set the password key. When I tell my laptop to view available networks in range I can see the network, and it has full bars, but when I click on it and try to connect it says it is unable to connect.

I have used the laptop to connect wirelessly before plenty of times, on a number of different networks. It's a Compaq computer, maybe 2-3 years old, running XP.

Any settings or configurations I should try to change? The booklet that came with the router told me how to connect to the desktop, which I did, but it didn't say much more.

Here is the story:
When I browse the intranet throught the connection in my room the speed is damn slow.I have to wait for more than five minutes to open websites which I searched with google or yahoo.Sometimes it doesn't open totally.
Then I took my pc to another connection line on the same appartment with the same connection type and it worked there.The speed is nice and I felt the problem is not with my PC.I also brought another PC and I tried it with my connection line.Surprisingly it works again and hence the problem is not with the connection line either.So I identified that the problem happens when the I tried to browse using my own computer and via the connection in my room.Does anybody know why this is happening? Please don't pass this question if you have something to say.

Previously I saw a personal firewall for use at public hotspots. It had a Wifi connection to sign onto the public hotspot, and then an ethernet connection to connect to the PC (and seems to me another model had 2 wireless connections - one for hotspot, 1 for PC). It contained a NAT router which it used as a firewall to protect the PC. I didn't bookmark the page though, and now I can't find the item again.
Before I order the parts to go build one, has anyone seen one (and of course can you send me a link or model number) ?

Ok i was loading a pc game on to my desk top (medal of honor picific assault)and all was going good untill i put in the 4th final disk then my desktop froze and then final went to the hp blue screen . Ive all ready tryed restarting it and also reinstalling windows xp and still i couldnt get any thing up beside that blue screen. I dont have the cash to get some one else to fix it ,so i would be greatful for any help i could get

I'm so tired of people blaming myspace for everything that happens. I mean if a girl gets kidnapped from someone she met online thats not myspace's fault. 1. it's the parent's fault for not watching what their kids are doing, 2.it's the child's fault for posting too much information. Tom is doing everything in his power to try and change it for the better with more privacy options and everyday someone has to say look what myspace did now..... It's the same thing as blaming someone for something that they didn't do TOM IS NOT MAKING SEXUAL PREDATORS HURT PEOPLE AND HES NOT MAKING KIDS GIVE OUT INFORMATION. It's the parents and the child for not being more open about the child's internet use. My parents allowed to me have one and they check up on it and my mom and sisters and family members are my friends on there and nothing's happened to me. My profile is on private and if a creep wants to talk to me I dont answer i can make it as if you have to be my friend to send a message. not cool

I accidentally hit the switch on my computer once and it turned off everything. I went ahead and restarted my computer and everything was fine (I wasn't working on anything that needed to be saved).

Could this damage my computer if it happened once?

They were both working fine until I installed the video card. I double checked to make sure they were both connected properly. They are not even showing in the bios anymore. The only thing I can think of is that my power supply is only 500 watts and it says it requires 550 watts. Do you think this might be in issue. Thanks in advance.
