yes. its the people that make the decisions.
I totally agree with you mostly,
myspace is just a huge attraction.
that's what myspace is all about, sharing info, what teen doesn't want to expand their friend base, and express themselves?
you might say the parents are responsible, but I've known a few that blocked myspace and the kids still find a way around it (kids are good with comps ya know)
I think myspace should not be charged judicially or socially, but I do believe it would be wise for TOM to bow out.
TOM is allowing for this "stage/conduit" to exist.
Is the child responsible for getting "RAPED" even if they put the info out there?
the only one that should be charged judicially and socially is the rapist/sicko
sounds like your pretty young yourself. I'm 30 years old (not to be little you at all) The world is full of sickos you wouldn't couldn't believe.
Like people that have s@x with animals, swap partners, bathroom games, watch and stalk people, collect womens shoe's only to smell them and on and on and on.
Then there are those who heard of myspace and see pics of young girls on it, and guess what, they live in the same town. don't you think that makes myspace an important TOOL for the pervert?
ever heard of ted bundy? His coworkers "loved" him until they found out he was a mass muderer.----meaning even the nice people can stab you in the back.
personally I will not allow my daughter (she's 6 and doesn't use the net too much) to ever get on myspace. If I catch her, I'll show her the sex offenders list.
let her get to know her neighbors ya know? We actually have about 10 offenders living in a 3 block radius from us. And I live in a nice place ---------- scary huh?

not really sure Yahoo Answers is the appropriate place to start a blog... but I have to agree with you somewhat... I think that since MySpace has marketed themselves as a place for people of all ages to meet and socialize, I think that they really do need to put forth a significant effort to make sure that MySpace is a SAFE place for people of all ages to do that. With popularity comes criticism (looks at Microsoft and Windows... yeah Windows has issues but we all use it regardless). But I do agree... parents need to be far more involved with what their kids are doing on the 21st century baby-sitter (the internet)... if I had ever even TRIED to meet someone, from the internet or otherwise, when I was in my teens my parents would have killed me, or at least grounded me for the rest of my adolesense. We won't let our children go to the park and play like they did decades ago... but we'll let them do anything on the internet... I think our priorities are screwed up... but MySpace really does need to find some way to try and protect their younger users... that combined with mindful parents will create a safer world for us all - but then again, I don't care... MySpace is so annoyingly high-school popularity contest-ish, I could care less about what happens on it

properly the regulations have replaced final 300 and sixty 5 days besides, however the the respond is honest opposition. Goodyear and NASCAR made a deal some back to grant maximum of tire consistent with race and Goodyear has been in a position to grant. On a component word the communities now no longer purchase the tires from Goodyear. they actually lease the tires from NASCAR for the time of the race weekend. After the race they might desire to return all tires, and could be fined and unfastened factors in the event that they do no longer.

agreed- that its the kids fault for posting too much. However, the whole idea of myspace and having ten thousand friends you don't know is extremely immature and leads to kidnappings. Not even that, parents shouldn't have to "check up" on their kid's pages, but should just block the site until their old enough to handle it-handle it in the sense that their kids won't be dumb-a.s.s.e.s and write revealing things.

Well. dear - we can't deny the facts. Sexual predators do roam MySpace. You are wise to keep your profile private - and your parents as well for keeping on eye on you. I would agree that it is the parents and kids fault.
What I don't get (as an old fart) is using a public forum to air all your problems. Communication is the key - Parents and their kids.

I know a teen age girl who chats with strangers. She tells them she's over 18 and has some very explicit conversations with them. Her parents have been notified at least twice about what their daughter was doing Their response was that they couldn't view the evidence or verify it because that would be a violation of their childs privacy.
If their dughter gets harmed by an internet predator, I'm sure they'll blame My Space or AOL instead of admiting that they were warned and ignored it.

We live in a litigious society where nobody wants to take responsibility for their own actions. The only way we can change this is through tort reform and legal action. Go to University, become a lawyer, get politically active and save our society from itself! You see at a young age what the media doesn't want us to see. Good luck in your endeavors.
