Hi Dude !!!
I spent 15 mins in serching comparision of both products...

At last I found comparision between celeron 2.6GHz and AMD processor
link :
http://www.pcauthority.com.au/review.aspx?CIaRID=2480

And Here is the review of intel pentium 4 1.8 Ghz
http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/pentium41800/default.asp
http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/pentium41800/page1.asp
http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/pentium41800/page2.asp
http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/pentium41800/page3.asp
http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/pentium41800/page4.asp
etc etc etc

After reading all the details I came to conclusion that.
pentium 4 is far more better than celeron...
Even in some comparison chart I saw pentium 4 and AMD processor but celeron was no-where.

One difference My teacher told me about these was celeron lack L2 cache. (ie intel has more l2 cache )
Which is required very much for faster processing.
Also celeron lag behind in most of the pc performance test.
< From reviews on many magazine >

So I will recommend pentium 4 dude

The P4 with have a Performence edge. The Celeron has a very small L2 Chache (At least Four times smaller than P4). This is the most important gateway, for a processor. Speed goes only so far, if it can't funnel it fast enough. A Celeron Processor will leave you very disappointed. I actually have two computers with the same scenario. The P4 performs better. http://www.investmental.com

Like they say, "never judge a book by it's cover". Pentium 4 is much faster than Celeron even if the digits are lower.

Celeron's L2 cache is only at 512kb
While P4's L2 is at 1Mb or 2Mb.
No doubt P4 is always better that Celeron.
If you are purchasing a new unit, better to invest in at least Core 2 Dou Processors or Quad Core if you got the bucks...

Celerons are slowwwwww.

P4 would definitely win that battle.

probably the celeron as the pentium is a full generation lower and i would be very surprised if the pentium had the cache to match the celeron

good question! ok. forget my original answer, since I have so many thumbs down. haters!
check this out
celeron 2.6 = 28$
pentium 4 1.8 = 20$
so you tell me...............
I'd cough up a little more money and get a
athlon 64 x2 core @ 3.6 ghz = 59$
http://www.pricewatch.com/cpu/athlon_64_x2_3600.htm

then you won't even care about your chips anymore
