try some keys.

does the blue screen refer to f2 or something like that?
try pressing esc, f2, f1, del, or insert. sometimes f11 might work

your trying to see (bios) whats behind the blue screen.

you are the bomb, man! for future reference: holding the f-10 key down will start the recovery format. the esc button is tricky. you have to tap it to re-start, then right between the blue screen and the boot screen, you hold it down until the boot window pops up. if you hold it too long it will disappear. i chose to boot from cd, but their was no recovery console option. i went into repair, but it asks for administative password. it's not your administrative password that logs you on to windows. after 3 tries, it re-boots itself. so i went with a clean install. i just back-up last week onto a cd, so i won't lose much. if i dare ask you this: what are some good tweaks that make windows start up and shutdown faster. i have some good internet tweaks. i have 512mb of ram. when i first upgraded the ram, it would zoom on start up and shutdown, but since has slowed down. thanks so much for helping me figure this thing out!

to function to what somebody else talked approximately, until now I reinstalled abode windows, i could run common attempt to ascertain my hardware against mess ups. extremely contained concerning the not elementary force, possibly even try a clean IDE cable and take a glance at it a 2d time. occasion, western digital has kit you will get carry of, that nicely try the force for undesirable sectors, clever status, ect..., I actual have 2 drives, that fail on the the fast try, the drives artwork, yet will in some circumstances provide a blue exhibit screen, because of the fact they're defective., additionally verify your memory, in case you are able to try working with a million stick, and spot what occurs, if comparable project try yet another stick. memory errors are undesirable, experience they at the instant are not elementary to accurately verify against.
