I accidentally hit the switch on my computer once and it turned off everything. I went ahead and restarted my computer and everything was fine (I wasn't working on anything that needed to be saved).

Could this damage my computer if it happened once?

Hardware damage from that would be less likely than you getting struck by lightning from answering your phone. Vaguely possible but not worth worrying about.

You will lose any unsaved data, and could run into data corruption. Since your computer started back up find, if you can run the programs that were running at the time you probably don't have any corruption.

no
a hard shut off may corrupt data
but it will not damage the computer
though it's a good idea to have a battery back up ( UPS ) to allow you to properly shut down your computer

No, you will lose any unsaved work, but that's all.
