easy easy
the start up icon was a 3rd party program. you don't need it.
I have tons of info. hang in there. I'll be right back

yes,
click start
run
then type
msconfig
click ok
click the startup tab in the top
remove the checks for programs there to make sure they don't load on startup.

if you remove these checks, and your computer doesnt seem to work the same, don't worry. Its not a problem

just go back to msconfig and carefully look at the files listed
you should be able to tell what you need running, like sound drivers or stuff like that. just recheck those boxes and restart.

or, just remove like 3 checks and restart. test the computer to see if it behaves properly.
if it does, remove some more. and restart
if it doesnt go back and fiddle with the three checks.

1) Do not know what "Start Up icon" in Control Panel you are talking about. There is a "Start Menu" icon.
2) Not if it was not there.
3) You can see what programs start at start up by typing msconfig in the Run dialog box. (Start/Run. ) Click the "Start Up" tab to see what programs start.
4) Write down the programs there - and Google them to see if they are necessary at start up.
