Virus--Boot Sector Write!!---This comes up when I reboot-I already have a good anti-virus program.?

How do I get rid of this virus? My pc actually works fine, so its confusing.

Try online scanners like Ewido http://www.ewido.net/en/ and BitDefender http://www.bitdefender.com/

An other way is to try scanning in safe mode with network.
Tap F8 when booting your computer. Choose safe mode with network.

Start in safe mode with network.
Start -> Run: type iexplore http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html (Enter/OK)
Scan your computer.
If you find something; delete it. Restart and do the same again. When the scanner finds nothing this scan is finish.

Reboot again in safe mode with network.
Start -> Run: type iexplore http://www.ewido.com/en (Enter/OK)
Scan your computer.
If you find something; delete it. Restart and do the same again. When the scanner find nothing this scan is finish.

Now you can reboot to normal mode.

*NOTE: Do not surf the net or open any programs when doing this scans. This because you can start spyware/adware/viruses manually.

*NOTE: Only have one antivirus program and one firewall installed on your computer. Anti-adware/spyware are ok to have more of.

Also use Firefox or Opera as browsers. They are safer then IE.

You might try Norton Antivirus some some boot sector and mbr viruses are hard to get rid of. If you know the name of the virus do a net search for it see if you can find a tool to remove it or goto sarc.com if you know the name.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

Hmm,you dint mention which anti virus program you are using.Try AVG or Kespersky,http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5 here is the link od downloading AVG. Trend micro also works good against viruses but not all.

go to start> run> msconfig> boot.ini> chech all boot path and delete any ones that don't work.
