My dad is on a business trip, and has administrator rights on the computer. He usually reviews what I am going to install, and allows me by typing in the password himself. However, he's the only one who knows the password to install things, and I have to install some program to research things on my class, AP U.S History. It's really important for a report, and he won't be back by then. I can't contact him for some reason, and wondered if I could install it without being an administrator. Thanks.

If I wire it I could get connected, but if I want to use it wireless I don't. The laptap has a 802.11g wireless lan.

Ok, so I have a linksys router, and I connect to a network called "default", and occasionally to the network in the room next to me. For several weeks, my wireless internet hasn't worked. It connects to default, but it doesn't work. It will recieve 1 or 2 packets of data, yet it still says it's connected. Does anyone have any suggestions...or alternatives to using wireless?

My pc gets infected with malware and so far the junk keep coming back. My concern right now is to change/update the host file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc), but without success even under safe mode. The access is denied and it complains of being used by another process. (how can that be even under safe-mode?)
Anyone know how please? Help is so appreciated :)

It's coming from my tower and it sounds like its uploading something (when I haven't even put anything in the hard drive or anything) and sometimes it gets really loud, like a fibration noise. It mostly does it when I kinda bang on my desk or set something hard down on my computer desk on accident. But just 10 minutes ago, it appered out of no where and the loudest and longest its ever been. And it also does it when I restart my computer but usually goes away.
It started doing this about 3 months ago...

What is wrong and what should I do?

My Internet uses PPPoE andI bought an Airport Express a few months ago and I configured it and stuff in my iMac, BUT when I try to listen to music through it.. it just doesn't work! however, when I connect it to the router and to the loudskeaker it does play music. (I figured this out after many hours)

I think helios YDL is a webserver. I can't find much information about it. Any other web servers you could recomend? I don't mind if they work with linux or windows as I got a PS3 for linux and a PC for windows.

My best friend owns his Dell XPS 600 in late October 2005. His XPS 600 used to be fast in late 2005, but few months later his computer is becoming old and slow because the new games were far more advanced, new graphics, and very complex now. His computer can barely play these next-gen games like Oblivion. My brother and I built our own-custom gaming computer. We built it in Christmas 2005. Our gaming computer is 2X powerful than my friend's. My friend want me to tweak his computer like new tweaks driver for his graphic card (Nvidia Geforce 6800) and overclocking configuration. It runs perfectly and almost becoming to par as our gaming computer. Few weeks later, my friend's computer screwed up. My friend started to blaming me what I did some tweaking for his system. I told him that I didn't tweak his WHOLE system, but just for his video card. He misunderstood me. My friend started to reinstall the old driver (77.79). Today, he still use the same driver and his games is slower as hell!

Basically at the back of the hp7850 printer is what looks like a usb port but is more square! It also has a funny fork like symbol next to it-I'm guessing this is where I would connect to my laptop(samsung r40), but what is the correct cable and where can I get one????

I own a Sony laptop, VAIO VGN-TX17GP laptop. I formatted its hard drive and reinstalled Windows on the device, but now I cannot install its drivers. I downloaded all the driver files form this website: http://www.css.ap.sony.com/vaio/website/General/DownloadList.aspx?Model=VGN-TX17GP, but when I try to execute the files, they pop up error messages saying the software is not suitable for my computer model. i have a geforce 8800 gtx with windows vista, i installed the drivers and it works fine for awhile then the comp turns off. But i was always able to turn it back on and reinstall the drivers and it worked again.. i had to do this pretty regularly as my comp always turned off.... today the comp turned off, and when i tried reinstalling the drivers it didn't work! when i initially turn my comp on the boot screen is black with little white blotches.. but it still boots into windows with no problems.. however the desktop stays on windows vista basic and no aero and the driver refuses to work now!... i have an intel core 2 duo e6300.. is there anything i can do to get my comp running normal again without the problems?

On my laptop I am windows xp pro.
When I want to take a picture while my web cam is connected to the computer all I have to do is go to my picture folder and click snap picture.
So, I connected my pen cam to desktop running windows 2000 pro.
I went to the pictures folder but THERE IS NO OPTION TO SNAP A PICTURE????
How do you take pictures in windows 2000 pro then?
