It's coming from my tower and it sounds like its uploading something (when I haven't even put anything in the hard drive or anything) and sometimes it gets really loud, like a fibration noise. It mostly does it when I kinda bang on my desk or set something hard down on my computer desk on accident. But just 10 minutes ago, it appered out of no where and the loudest and longest its ever been. And it also does it when I restart my computer but usually goes away.
It started doing this about 3 months ago...
What is wrong and what should I do?

You can save your files to a CD and then open the tower and check to see what is loose. Be sure to have the power off.

Almost certainly one of the fans in your machine is "dying". This noise is made when the fan is out of alignment or getting loose on its hub so that it vibrates.
Backing up your files: get an external hard drive (this can be a self-contained drive/caddy like a WD MyBook or a Toshiba Canvio or you can create your own with an old drive from a previous computer and an external drive caddy - you can get a decent one of those for as little as $12.
Connect the drive and then use the Windows Easy Transfer Wizard to perform the backup or use the Microsoft Back program.

As my mates above have said.. it might be a problem with the CPU fan.. jus open up your tower and see if u got anything stuck with the fan..
*still i would suggest you to "backup all ur files" before u do it.. coz u dont wanna lose all ur data :) (sometimes, it might be the harddisk and a noisy harddisk indicates "a crash" around the corner)
hope this helps too :)

I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU TO TAKE YOUR COMPUTER TO THE LOCAL COMPUTER STORE FOR TESTING.
THEY WOULD DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM EASILY COZ THEY HAVE PHYSICAL ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER. IF ITS THE FAN, THEY WILL FIX IT. IF ITS THE HARD DRIVE, THEY MIGHT RECOMMEND YOU TO CHANGE IT.
50 BUCKS WOULD BE CHEAP THAN TO LOSE ALL YOUR DATA. AND BELIEVE ME, BACKING UP YOUR DATA IS A PAIN AT THE WRONG PLACE AND THE COMPUTER GUYS WILL DO IT FOR U (Just in case)
Good Luck :)

Only a few things can make enough noise in a computer.
CD inside the drive (remove and test)
Power supply fan (back of PC)
CPU fan (inside and hard to tell unless remove cover)
Case fans (normally front/back/side of case)

Something might be caught in or near one of the fans. Open it up and check. It's probably very dusty in there, so get some canned air for cleaning and clean everything up in there.

Back up your important files immediately.
Every time I've had "funny noises", soon after a hard drive dies.

I'd guess that you have a wire getting buzzed by your rear case fan. Open the cover and take a peek, you won't break anything.
