If you have a working connection (wired or wireless) this is only the other card on the machine showing it is not being used. You will probably slow the connection if you do anything about this, as the machine will constantly waste time deciding which card to use.

that icon is you LAN or Ethernet connection, its the large 8 pin phone cord looking port in the back, its has nothing to do with your dial up,

if you want to make it go away right click on "my network place" on your desk top then go to properties and find the icon that says that message right click on it and hit disable

on the plus side most people don't know is by disable it when its not used will speed up your computer start up a bit since it dose not try to raise that port

Your LOCAL area connection Icon is for ethernet.

Since you are using dialup it will show disconnected.

There is nothing you need to do nor anything that will change that unless you get DSL or cable or connect to another ethernet device. It is not affecting your internet connection when you are on dialup.

This icon means that you are not connected to your router via ethernet cable or wired. What you do to fix this is take your ethernet cable and plug it into your router. This will fix your problem... If you have dial up, then you don't need to do this... Dial up is always slow and this will not make it faster.... Unless, you have DSL or Cable...

this icon has nothing to do with dial up, itis only used on dsl and it says a cable is unplugged but dont worry about that, it is normal because you dont have an ethernet cable connected, they are used for dsl (broadband)

Well it you are usin a dialup and not a broad band connection on the comouter then obviously the Local network would be dissconnected...open my network and dial up connections and disable the LAN icon (a red "X" should be on the Local area network..you should be all set CHEERS!!!
