When I try to format from the cmd line it says that " Format cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Format may run if this volume is dismounted first. All opened handles to this volume would then be lost".

It then gives me an option to do a "forced dismount y/n" I select yes and the message is... "Cannot lock the drive. the volume is still in use" How do I get my pc reformated now?

I have a used computer that was setup in a network. I tried to get cable internet using ethranet but it will not work. The cable man said the IP is set wrong. How do I change it to a regular home pc, so I can get the internet? Detailed answers, and or website links would be great. However, I dont need people to tell me to take it to a professional. Especially Dell's... Slowdown despite constant maintenance with adaware, spybot, security task manager, defrag.

I fear a conspiracy by Dell and other manufacturers to force people to buy replacement computers as current PCs become unuseable.

Ever since I moved to another location, my computer has been locking up at different times. Fan and cooling system is working fine, I ran McAfee to check for viruses and none were found. It just seems that when I leave it idle for a period of time or even when I'm just using it for a bit, it freezes where I can't use the mouse, keyboard, or anything and the only thing to do is do a forcible power off of my computer. Thanks in advance.

Processor Speed: 2.0 ghz
Ram: 2560mb of ram
