how do i make my cd drives work again? one is a dvd rom and one is a cd-rw drive...i can put cds in and they freeze the computer and when i take them out it is perfectly fine again.

Also, unplug them and re-plug them again. Make sure the pins are lines up correctly. The ribbon-cable should have a 'stripe' going down one side. Make sure the stripe is on the same side on 'both ends' of the connection. Sounds like something is just barely not connected fully. Good Luck :-)

reinstall the drivers for the cd drive.
