I suppose you do not have any other software from mcafee on your computer. The following steps will remove all mcafee software from your computer. so beware.
First make a backup of your registry.
Clickon start > run . Type regedit. press OK.
the registry editor window opens.click on File > Export.
Save the file by giving it a name.It will create a registration entries file in my documents folder. Then click on Edit > Find. Type "mcafee" click on Find Next. The search will stop at the entry containing "mcafee" , read it once to make sure it is mcafee. Then click on it, on the entry in the right panel.and press delete key.or right click and select delete.Press Ok to confirm. Now press F3 to search again. Delete the entry if found. Continue till you find and delete all mcafee entries.close the registry editor.
Also look for the folder name in C:\program files\
containing mcafee. If found delete the whole folder.
Restart your computer. If everything goes smoothly, you have removed mcafee successfully.
After that download and install a Free Crap Cleaner ccleaner(Uncheck install Yahoo Toolbar option during Installing ccleaner, if you do not want yahoo toolbar to be installed with ccleaner)
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
Run it. It will remove any traces left by mcafee in the registry.
( In case you are not able to delete the mcafee folder, it is because there may be some executables of it running. In that case go to start > run . Type msconfig. Press OK.The system configuration utitlity opens. click on STARTUP tab. Uncheck the mcafee entry if found. Press Apply. Press Ok. Press Yes to reboot. After reboot go to c:\program files\ and delete the mcafee folder.)

There should be a McAfee uninstall program. Go to Start menu > All Programs > McAfee and there should be an uninstall option. If this fails then you need to use an uninstall program. I know it sounds crazy to have to install a program in order to rid of another program. Both Tune-up Utilities 2006 (www.tune-up.com) and System Mechanic 6 (www.iolo.com) are system suites which include an uninstaller module. Both can be downloaded and come with a 30 day trial period.
