In an emergency, if a rescuer from outside a car wants to undo a car seat belt to get an unconscious person out of a car, they have to reach across the person to access the seat belt release button located towards the middle of the car. Why do they not design it so the seat belt release thing is at the door side so that it is easier to release in an emergency?

on the A1 today in the pouring rain, I am overtaking a long row of slow moving trucks and one will decide to pull out to overtake doing just 50 mph and I am doing at least 70 mph causing me to have to slam my brakes on......... errgghhhhhh, this happened several times on a 50 mile journey. shouldn't they be made to stay in the slow lane ??????

I spend a lot of time out on the road and observe the general driving of people today.

I notice that the larger proportion of drivers speed to excess.

The use of speed should be treated with respect, speed limits ARE there for a reason, THE SAFETY OF YOURSELF AND OTHERS.

Everyone rolls over the speed limit from time to time, I accept that. But i cannot begin to comprehend the people who speed excessively.
There are so many different impacts on why speeding is not good, for example, SAFETY, environmantal impact, wear and tear on your beloved car, too many to name all.

Is there really anyone that can justify putting THEIR lives and (more importantly) THE LIVES OF OTHERS at risk, just to get somewhere a few seconds earlier.

If you think an accident will never happen to you, I beg to differ. It will catch up on you in the end.

If you think you are so good that you will never have an accident, I trust you have been through all the ADVANCED DRIVING courses.

I wear spectacles for driving and am tired swapping between normal glasses and sunglasses. I feel this is dangerous and thought about getting reactions lenses. I live in the UK and the girl in the opticians said I would be disappointed with them as they react to UV rays- most of which are absorbed by the windscreen so they will never go dark unless you have a sunroof. Also, she says the lenses never go really clear - there is always a slight tint. I want some feedback from people who have reactions lenses and advice on this issue please - thanks.

I personally think so because sometimes i wonder how come they are permitted to drive. For safety reasons, they are hazardous to others.

I know it's not practial to have them replaced, but do they ever get old enough that they don't work properly? I know that things such as fire extinguishers eventually become unusable (or at least less usuable.) Are airbags the same? Mine is 11 years old now...

It is a basic and common safety rule to wear seat belts for both the driver and the person sitting in the front. But while driving at hi speed (legally on a high way), like let's say, 75 mph, does it still guarantee safety? If at that speed any crash happens, you die right away. Because at that velocity, the belts will break your ribs. Also, even if you don't wear belts, obviously you die or suffer serious injury.
