You obviously can't tell him that he's a danger to himself and others; he's in a state of denial (possibly suffering from early onset dementia or even early stages of alzheimers). The best way to protect yourself is to find another person who would be willing to drive you to do your shopping (you could offer that person some money for gas), you could take a taxi or even hire a student or other retired person to do your shopping for you.

As for hospital and/or medical appointments, speak to the personnel at the facility and ask if they have a courtesy car or patient service available.

I'd do it soon, as the friend shouldn't be your designated driver, nor should he be behind the wheel at all. Perhaps you should contact your State DMV and ask that his license be restricted or revoked, for his safety and that of others. Think how badly you'd feel if he kills himself or some innocent other person.

Sounds like you need to find another means of transportation.Im sure he thinks hes doing something nice for you taking you EVERYWHERE you need to go, but this is obviously making you uncomfortable. If I were you, I would be looking in the phone book for a cheap taxi service.

Sounds like you should start walking you would get there much faster and plus you would be alot safer or you could call Dial a ride.

this is the cheapest taxi you can get or even cheaper is to have your kids take you around . not much you can do he is getting older and his reflexes are getting slower . next thing you can do is to start driving your self but do not forget to thank him for his help
