Have a 1999 Volvo S80 with a gearshift that gets stuck in park and can only be pulled out by really musceling it. Got a response from Somethingtotry and I checked for he recommended but there is nothing on the console. Anybody else have any ideas for me? The key, as a result is also stuck in the ignition and won't come out. In the meantime, I am just leaving the car in neutral (with the parking brake on) when I park it and I took the remote off the key and lock and unlock it that way. It's getting to be a pain

2004 toyota 4runner v6 4wd
I changed my spark plugs, 4 last week (no problem driving several hours) and the last 2 today, driver's side rear 2, and an hour later the check engine light and VSC came on and it ran rough. I saw in some previous answers the VSC light will come on just because the check engine light is on.
I checked my wires and clicked the connector onto the coil tower a little better and the engine runs smooth again but the lights are still on. I only ran about 5 minute since then.

I also have a little hose from the back of the block to the a small square housing on the underside of the intake"Upper Deck" that I removed to get to the plugs. It slipped right off with the squeeze ring clamp still connected. I would call this rotted. I taped around the tube to make it thicker until I can get a new hose.

So should the light go off by itself if the loose electrical connector was the cause and is now fixed?
And where is the OBD connector?

Thanks
Jeff

Pleaase explain clearly :-)

does it help tire condition? improve engines? enhance speed? quicker start? what would be the reasons that make someone want to choose 4WD instead of 2WD?

I own a 1999 Toyota Camry. When I took it in for routine maintenance, the service manager informed me that there was uneven wear on my brake pads. My driver's side brake has 60% padding left, the passenger's side 15% or so. The service manager suggested that I replace the hardware, calipers, and hoses, along with the pads on both sides. That makes for a pretty expensive brake job. Is it really necessary to do all that to LIKELY do away with uneven wear? Is there a less expensive option? I wanted to ask you Y!A mechanics before accepting the service. I always exercise caution at shops to help ensure that I don't get screwed. Thanks for your input.

OK i have an 83 camaro berlinetta 5.0 V8 I was having problems with it dieing on me.. It would start chugging real bad then die. ussualy when i gave it gas. I took it to the shop and they said it was the clugged exhaust and cat that was making it do this.they fix the exhaust and they take it for two test drives and it needs towed back both times. saying that it would just die while driving, now they are telling me that the starter needs replaced because it is not disengagin correctly or something? Could the starter be the cause of its intermitent dieing problem?

I have a 2001 Cavalier, 2 doors. When it gets really cold out, sometimes my car doors will freeze shut. I do not have a garage or car port to park it in. Anyone have any ideas to prevent this?

The feed pipe (where you put the transmission fluid in) threads into the side of the transmission's oil pan. The leak is in the pipe itself, on the top, about six inches from where it threads in. It drips constantly. Is there some kind of gunk that will stop it? Otherwise, I've thought of wrapping some light metal (tin can) around it and securing it with radiator clamps. Any suggestions?

I have a 2001 Dodge Stratus. The mechanic of this new garage I just used told me I needed to replace my back brake pads and rotors in about 2000 miles. My car has NEVER been to the point where there was metal on metal. Why would you need to replace rotors if they have never been given the opportunity to be damaged?

at the moment if i stop accelerating for a minute or so (especially when cold) the engine cuts out, this becomes a problem at junctions and in traffic. i have a haynes manual but i need the steps in basic terms, if i can save money by doing it myself it would be great.

I have a '96 Chevy Lumina sedan and one of my brake lights goes out only when my left turn signal is on. When the left turn signal is not on, the brake light works fine. I replaced the bulb, and the same thing happens.

Anyone know what else could be causing this or what else I should check?

im looking to get a new car from my 1986 cadillac. im getting about 12 mph and a maxima is around 20-24 and also regualr gas not plus. for arguments sake, if i get double gas mph and im going through 50 dollars a week, that would be 25 dollars a week i save. in a month? 100. thats 1200 a year.

anyway, i found a 1995 maxima that was replaced with all 1998 maxima parts. the owner had 2 maximas, (98 and 95) and somebody hit him in the 98 one. he took all the parts off it and put it on the 95 including the SE rims. so it looks just like a 98. it has 112,000 miles on it and he just rebuilt the tranny which is normal on anycar around 100+ miles.

is this worth it? it has cloth interior not leather and is this a reliable car? THANKS!
