im looking to get a new car from my 1986 cadillac. im getting about 12 mph and a maxima is around 20-24 and also regualr gas not plus. for arguments sake, if i get double gas mph and im going through 50 dollars a week, that would be 25 dollars a week i save. in a month? 100. thats 1200 a year.

anyway, i found a 1995 maxima that was replaced with all 1998 maxima parts. the owner had 2 maximas, (98 and 95) and somebody hit him in the 98 one. he took all the parts off it and put it on the 95 including the SE rims. so it looks just like a 98. it has 112,000 miles on it and he just rebuilt the tranny which is normal on anycar around 100+ miles.

is this worth it? it has cloth interior not leather and is this a reliable car? THANKS!

Yes.
You're making a great choice.
The older Maxima's were great cars when they built them, and still are today.
You will be happy you bought it, 1995 was a pretty good year for it too.

Like any car, but Nissan is pretty good. I hope is a good one. I do not believe 100% that X brand is the best, but there are always some bad ones. For me GM has been an excellent brand. I drive an 03 Impala, I get around 27~30 MPG in Hwy at 77 MPH. Is a full size car, it has 80,000+ miles on it trouble free. My other is a 94 Grand Prix, I get 27~30 MPG and was advertised as 26 MPG on Hwy at 77 MPH with 160,000+ trouble free. Both cars has been great for me. Some people here will swear they are crap! I have seen Lemon Lexsucks and I have seen some good ones. I even saw a Yugo that was a reliable car and some they ran like crap.

I guess is the luck of the draw and how well you take care of it. If you decide to get it, good luck on it.

Maxima engines are very reliable. The biggest sore spot is the trans. If the trans is good (stick shift or auto??) it will give you lots of trouble free driving. These days, getting 20-24 is not all that great though. Try to find a car that can get closer to or better than 30 MPG. There are a lot out there!

Wait...what parts? Just exterior trim? Or mechanicals and suspension? What? Why did the 95 need this stuff? What damage had been done to the 98?

This whole story sound like it could be pretty fishy to me. It could also NOT be, but I'd be asking questions if I were you.

That said, survey says yes, it is reliable:

What price is he offering?

It's a reliable car but like all cases, it depends on the individual car. That is a lot of mile and if the guy didn't care of it the right way, then it adds up. It's a reliable car, just don't spend alot on it.
