I have a '96 Chevy Lumina sedan and one of my brake lights goes out only when my left turn signal is on. When the left turn signal is not on, the brake light works fine. I replaced the bulb, and the same thing happens.

Anyone know what else could be causing this or what else I should check?

Also, I don't know if this is related, but the brake light goes out when the left turn signal is on ... and that left turn signal no longer turns off after I make the turn. You have to manually turn it off.
Could this be related?

It's a bad turn signal switch. The brake lights run through the switch and it's cutting them both off instead of just the one when you use the turn signal. There's also a little tab in it that the steering wheel hub hits to turn off the signal when you turn the wheel back. You'll have to pull off the steering wheel to replace the switch. And you have to know what you're doing with the airbag to do that or you're liable to get your head knocked off.

You have a short circuit or a ba earth or ground.
Before removing steering wheel, check wires with a voltmeter to find which two are touching or where the bad earth is

Yes this to can cause it not to work. You have to remove the steraing wheel to fix it.
Also check for a bad ground on that light.
