Have a 1999 Volvo S80 with a gearshift that gets stuck in park and can only be pulled out by really musceling it. Got a response from Somethingtotry and I checked for he recommended but there is nothing on the console. Anybody else have any ideas for me? The key, as a result is also stuck in the ignition and won't come out. In the meantime, I am just leaving the car in neutral (with the parking brake on) when I park it and I took the remote off the key and lock and unlock it that way. It's getting to be a pain

First off, these guys do not know what they are talking about. You need a shift solenoid. Take it to your local volvo shop for estimate. Don't be a cheapo, take care of it and it will take care of you. Volvo for Life.

The first I would do is check the motor mounds for a broken or collapsed one. If not, then take off the shift rod or cable from the trans, put the shift and trans lever both in park, and adjust the cable 'till it's the right length.
