I'm wondering about adding a system to my stock vehicle. Is it worth the money for an entry level system? Any info would be appreciated. Is there an "Idiots guide to water injection"?

I replaced the head gaskets on 1990 Chev 305. When starting first thing in morning, temperature rises to 240 or 250 before thermostat opens. After thermostat opens temperature runs fine, does not overheat. I replaced thermostat with a 160 degree. Temperature now rises to 220 to 230 when first started, when thermostat opens engine cools to around 160. No overheating occurs after thermostat opens.

I hear many people saying you should change your timing belt yada yada yada, however, does anyone know of anyone who has had engine failure due to timing belt not being replaced? It sounds to me like it's another way for car dealerships/manufacturers to rip off the American public. What do you think? By the way, I drove my 93 Nissan pathfinder for 135000 miles without changing a timing belt, however, there were other problems.

I had a bracket on my exhaust repaired a few days ago; I started smelling the rotten egg smell the day after. The mechanic of course said he didn't do it but I know it wasn't smelling like that b 4 I took it in. Someone told me just let the smell go away since the check engine light is not on however another person told me to get the coverter changed. I am wondering if it's safe to park my car in the attached garage because the smell does come into the house. Thx

I've got a new sound coming from my 99 Toyota Camry. When I push on the brakes, I hear a humming sound from the front of the car. Any ideas?

I recently hopped the curb in my Vibe hatchback, damaged the driver's front side tire and rim, no body damage. I had the tire and rim replaced, however I also need to replace the control arm. Now, I had the part ordered, but I know that control arms aren't parts that are often replaced. I need the car to be fixed by next week for school and work, and I'm worried the part won't be here in time, and that the costs are going to be crazy.

of the car- if your standing in front of the car, your looking at it to your left. He said it is the rack and pinion- I can't afford to fix-replace that, what about the steering fluid stop leak stuff?
Will it at least stop the squeel/sqweek when I start the car-at least any suggestions to slow the leak, or lose that sqeeking noise?
Thanks now

I had 3 diagnostic tests done @ Autozone and they showed it was oxygen sensor or cat converter. The car drives kind of loud, bad gas mileage and stalls after driving for 30 mins. When it stalls it can start up again.. other times it starts up just to stall again.

The garage I have always used said I had a fuse problem.. they fixed it and said all I have to pay is the $50 for checking it out. Does this make sense about the fuse? Could a fuse do this much damage to the car?

I have been trying to figure out this brake system. First of all, the rear brakes stopped working, there was no fluid at all. I bled the abs unit, adjusted the rear drum brakes, and inspected the lines, finally the rear was working. They are still working and it was fine for awhile. There is a hissing sound when you apply the brake, and it shifts the motor down when you apply the brake. i can hear a vacuum leak under the hood at the back of the motor, but i can't seem to find it. The hissing sound and the way the motor changes when the brake is applied, I'm sure it's a vacuum leak. Anyone have any common problems and have had solutions as to where the leak may be?

Whenever I let off the brakes they hiss for about 15 seconds and it gradually fades. It doesn't matter if I'm doing 60 and I tap the breaks or if I'm taking off from a dead stop, they hiss. If I barely press the brake pedal it stops, but will resume as soon as I let my foot off again. It's really loud and just started this morning. What could it be?
(It's a 2003 Navigator if that makes a difference)
Thanks for all your help!!

For Example, nothing appears when you are in reverse; when your in neutral it says reverse; when you are in overdrive it says neutral; drive --> overdrive; 2-->drive; 1-->2!!!
This is so confusing and oftentimes I almost blow the transmission out of it before I realize. How do you fix this?????

My wife mistakenly filled 3/4 diesel, into a 1/4 gas, and drove 10 miles before stopping. The car has been to the Toyota service center 5 times, and each time returned saying the problem was fixed. However, there was always some problem.

They now say that the engine needs to be replaced, because the diesel burned out the rings in the cylinders, and leaked onto the small block. Cost: $10K

So, my questions are:
1. I know people to whom this has happened before, with different cars, and the result was never so drastic. A couple thousand $ only. Not 10K. So, is this possible? Can diesel do this?
2. The Toyota service center always returned the car to me stating, "the work is warranted for 1 year." Does this mean they guarantee the problem won't come back? Can this cover the cost?
3. Is it possible that they caused this problem by not performing due diligence up front? We only drove it 10 miles with diesel, but they drove over 100 miles to diagnose over the various servicings.

I KNOW the 235-45-17 is a bigger, wider and taller tire, but is there anyting else? The place I'm buying the tires has them for $60 for 205-40-17; $78 for 215-45-17; $89 for 225-45-17 and $90 for 235-45-17. As you can see prices keep increasing. Is it just because there's more tire material? or 235 last longer because is larger? I'm just thinking on going with 205 since they are $30 cheaper. Am I missing something?

The dealer said it was the new tires, and that 17'' wheels have thinner tires, so you get more road noise.
I thought it might be in the back right wheel, or maybe the roof rack. It's a low hoooot, not an awful noise, but it's like when you blow on a bottle at the right angle and get a deep tone.
And about the speed, when i go above or below those 2 speeds the noise fades away.
Got any clues?
BTW the car is in great condition, runs great, and I just bought it used (certified, still under warranty), and I'm taking it in this weekend, but I want to be informed when I go in.
It has a turbo engine. Could that be the noise?
It's not very loud, like if I'm blasting music I don't hear it, but I have to get it fixed or it will bug me. I hate little noises.

I've heard everywhere about, "use paper towels" or "newspaper" instead of cloth. But all those do is scratch up the scum and it looks even more hideous when the sun is shining through the scratches and still blinds me as I'm driving. Without using so much friggin' arm strength, what is a good trick to removing that seemingly un-removable scum??

P.S. please help, as cleaning the inside of my windshield is my hugest pet peeve about detailing the inside of my car.

I was told my honda accord is stalling out because the distributor gasket is leaking oil onto the points and not allowing a good connection. It will start and run for a while, but then stalls out. Can I replace the gasket only on a distributor, or do I need to replace the whole distributor?

Thanks!

As you know JB Weld is a putty substance that gets rock har and you can drill it well, I recently had a minor leak on my transmission and now i have just made it worse i was told that there is some type of chemical that will melt the weld away. Is this true or am i bound to cave man tactics and chisel it off???

I own an '05 Toyota Tundra and have had it for about a year. The outlets have always worked fine but then today they all stopped working.

I usually have my Ipod and my GPS plugged in but yesterday, on an unusually long drive home, I plugged in my laptop into an inverter just to let it charge. After about an hour, it stopped charging but I thought nothing of it because my Ipod and my GPS continued to get power.

But today I'm getting no power from any of the outlets. What could be the problem? How can I fix it?
