the rotten egg smell is from sulphur burning. It can be caused by the welder overheating the area of the catalytic converter. it should go away in a few days of driving. you just need to get the car warmed up good and do some highwya/freway driving to get the catalytic converter up to high temps. The smell is annoying but harmless. Just park it outside the garage for a few days till the odor goes away.

Your car needs a tune-up!!!! Are there any engine codes or flashing check engine lights??? If you are not careful, you will damage your expensive catalytic converter. There either is a bad engine sensor somewhere, or whoever worked on this car did NOT know what he/she was doing!!!! FIrst, locate and clean out the idle air control valve, the throttle body, the throttle plate, and the PCV valve and hose. Then, you should go to Auto Zone where they will scan your car's computer for problems. The things you have cleaned will contribute to overall running improvements. After that, install a set of Bosch Fusion or Nippondenso Twin TIp plugs. You will save gas and get better power, overall. Also, power wash your engine TOTALLY!!!

It does sound like it could be the catalytic converter. Best not to park it in the garage until it's repaired. And, maybe go to a different mechanic!
The smell won't kill you, but it could indicate a problem with the exhaust system as a whole, and carbon monoxide build-up is what you have to be concerned about, as it is odorless.

The smell is from the catalytic converter. If your car is off, the smell from it will not harm you. If it only started after he fixed the bracket, if the bracket was welded, it could of overheated the catalytic converter, if in fact he welded something on the catalytic converter. If not, then it is just coincidental. I would wait and see if the smell goes away after a week or so.

yes that's carbon monoxide,it can kill you if breathed in long enough, even small amounts can cause memory loss, and dizziness, you really need to stop running it like that,it has took a lot of life's over the past 50 years or so,and I'm sure it will get a few more, its deadly, that's the best way i can put it,don't run it in the garage anymore, good luck with it.

You may be nuts because a bracket has nothing to do with the smell you have. I guess it's easy to blame the mechanic. He likely shoved rotten eggs up your tailpipe just to make you mad. Maybe you farted............

get your battery checked/replaced, the rotten egg smell is usually hydrogen sulphide venting from a malfunctioning battery. it stinks real bad and could also explode
