Maintenance & Repairs - February 2007

Hello all..first time on here..I bought the car a couple weeks ago.It has the 1.6 engine 3spd auto in it... New brakes and tires.I put about 800 miles on it and it ran like new until a few days ago..front wheels locked up on me while driving and a truck behind me scraped the back bumper trying to move out of my way...anyway the car would not move..even in neutral ..couple minutes later I was able to drive it to the side of the road..called a tow truck and towed it home....In the morning I started the car and it goes into drive and reverse instantly when put into gear..put when you try to go....it moves but like I'm towing a house.The next day it drove(only in driveway)it forward and backwards with no resistance like there was no problem with anything..lol...Too cold to really check it out right now.Live in upstate ny and the weather is kinda hampering me from working on it..Transmission fluid is clean it was serviced about 3000 miles ago..Anyone on here hear of a similar problem

Hi,
Today morning while driving for work, I noticed a orange warning sign saying "O/D OFF". At a red signal, I switched off the engine and restarted it and the sign was gone. Does it mean that the O/D is on again or do I need to do it manually. Mine is a new toyota scion purchased recently. Please advise.

Sometimes they are really stiff, othertimes they flow in easily. Also i've noticed that when i'm going from 3rd to 4th, when I push the clutch in, it makes a high pitched scraping noise. Its not very loud, but its definitely there. The car is now 5 years old.

Any ideas? I've just paid out over £600 for service, Mot and all my breaks which needed doing and i'm dreading another huge bill!

It started just before the artic cold weather started 2 weeks ago. I have put in a new battery. I have put in some isofreeze to unfreeze the the gas lines left it for almost two hours. still didn't start. I have put in fuel injection cleaner and that does not work.

I own a 55 plate mini one convertible, and ever since a roof tile blew off my garage in the recent storms and hit the rear parking sensor (and damaged my bumper dammit!) i've had this horrible screeching noise every time I reverse telling me my sensor is not working. I can't afford to get it fixed so soon after christmas and roof repairs, is there anyway I can switch it off until later in the year when I can get it done???? thanku!

I have been having trouble starting, the power seems to come and go. dont think it's the battery, sometimes it would cut off while driving witch is dangerous because power steering. its a mitsubishi spacewagon, 2.0 litre petrol 1999 any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'm in Chicago, and we have had... DAYS of below zero temperatures..and nothing higher than 10 degrees for a LONG while.

Someone pointed out to me that one of my tires is looking a little low, and I was wondering if there is anything wrong with filling up a tire with air when the temperatures are so low?

Should you drive for a while to ...warm up the rubber of the tire?

Obviously I have NO clue about cars... sorry for the naive question.

i have a subaru impreza sport 1996 which i bought as a project car, when i start it it wont tick over unless i keep my foot on the revsand cuts out the moment u take your foot off the accelerator and when driving it doesnt fell like all the power is there/ also it has just had a new engine fitted / does anyone no what it is????

i Have a newish chrysler voyager and was snowing for the last 2 days. But when I went to start it i just makes very loud clicking noises and the speedomiter says i am going 140mph+ and reving over the limit when i am not even moving and a little red light near the steering wheel normally use for when the alarm is on is flashing. but the car does not start. what could it be?

light goes off. when i stop it comes on? I recently got an oil change and it is still doing the same thing any idea what is causing this? And should i be worried?

Hey everyone. My starter is going bad. It wouldn't start earlier, but I gave it a tap with a wrench and it started just fine. But I know this is just a temporary fix. Now in locating the starter I realized that it is not easy to get to. Has anyone changed one of these before and could give me some tips. It looks like I'll have to remove my Air Intake system, and some other stuff, but if anyone has anymore info It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

my car has the fron lights yellowish but i know there has to be some good chemicals out there that might take that yellowish off and i just want to know maybe if someone can help and tell me how or what can i do to take it off...thanx

When I turn the key, the car makes a loud clicking noise and all electrical systems (LIGHTS )start to flicker. But it won't even make that cranking noise it does always before it fully turns over. I have had the same problem with this car before but after about 10mins it just starts up perfectly normal but not this time. I never left any lights on!!!!!

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP???

Okies, Listen very closly. I have a 1996 Saturn SL2. My car will most of the time start but other times it will not. It is not even turning over. Its doing nothing! So I thought maybe it was the starter, not the starter itself but a short in maybe part of the electrical part, so i bought a new one, might i add $$145.00!!! So i had the starter changed two days ago and today the same BS i went through for two weeks!!! Please someone help me!!! Mr. Dodge Man, I know you know!!!

The driver door on my car will only open less than a foot, then it "locks", in order to open it, I have to apply a reasonable amount of pressure to open it and it makes a really really loud pop noise. On the outside of my car, the area between my door and the rest of the car there is almost like a little hole that is poking out, my friend thinks if I hammer that in this problem will go away.

But I don't think that is it, because I believe that hole is just my own fault from opening the door like that overtime. Some guy at firestone said I should take it to a body shop he thought something was unaligned.

My question is does anyone know how this happened? I didn't get in any accident it just started doing this one day. Also I was wondering how much it may cost to fix it and the best yet cheapest body shop to take it to?

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
