I own a 2000 Dakota 4X4. It used to have a 3.8 liter V-6 and I dropped a 4.7 liter V8 into it. I can tell you from working on these trucks that you would be better off selling your Durango and buy a comparible 4x4 Durango.

The transmission is different, you would need the front axles from a 4x4 and they have to be a matching gear ratio with you rear axle. The front suspension is different etc...

I am sure it can be done, but I am also sure that the cost of this would exceed what your truck is now worth.

Sorry

You can't buy a conversion kit. The only one i can think of is just getting a new transmission, and that would extremly expensive. You would have to do alot of work, you will need a whole new front end. Like new axles, axle housings, and differential housing. I would just sell your truck then buy another one with 4wd. It will save you time and money. The only reason you would need 4wd if if you went in the mud, or snow lowed. if you are worried about getting stuck in the snow on the road. i advice you not to do it..

Grumpy's superb... you elect a donor truck to do it.... casue surely you may surely take the physique off yours and roll the 4x4 physique and working chassis under it because of the fact the front suspension is carefully diverse besides because of the fact the working prepare.... No web pages.. merely use yellow pages for vehicle salvage or vehicle areas/used and get in touch with them.. it's going to make you sell the truck in a heartbeat...
