Ok well i've done a few restorations on these kinda lights first get 1200 grit sand paper and WET SAND the lights to a smooth finish that takes the yellow off then use a little buffer or grinder with a buffing pad and some rubbing compound and then after you ahve a little shine back then take some glaze or polish and use a new pad to buff them to a high luster if you use the aceatone you will melt the light covers that guy got really luckly i use that stuff at work to clean the putty off my tools o by the way i paint and buff 25 million dollar yahatts so take this for what you will be carefull you can mess things up worse. hope this helps.

If you're talking about the hard yellow coating that sometimes develops, it's a pain to deal with. Very fine abrasives used lightly can help some but I haven't heard of anybody being really happy with any solution. Best one I've heard was a guy who misted acetone onto the plastic and let it evaporate -- he said it helped a good bit, but not as good as stock.
If you're going to try this, go easy and don't let the acetone get on anything but the lens cover -- mask everything else off or you'll do a lot of damage. Good luck.

Wal Mart sells a kit that will cure this in the paint section of the automotive dept. It comes with everything you need, but a drill for the buffing pad. It also includes the instructions. I would check this out, if Wal Mart is at or near your location.
