If it's freezing cold, it's probably a dead battery. Check the battery cables too.

already headed to answer when I saw you added other things.
Alway's start with the battery. This time of the year corrosion keeps the car from starting regularlly. Simple matter of cleaning the acid and corrosion off them.
Starter silinoids are the next check. Some come with the starter and are built on. Some are not. You may buy a starter without and it wasnt the starter, You also have what some refer to as the brain box. This is usually what sits on top of you distributor. It controlls the elect. current to the wires.
I have also ran into a situation under the distributor cap where a simple small plug in device is shorting out or wearing out. This is rare and often overlooked. Another Under the dist. cap is a peice of metal thats simply a ground. I have seen these melted through. It's such a small area you can sometimes still get what you need but not alway's.
I'm betting it's elect. Good luck Maybe it's republicans....lol

We purchase previous automobiles all of the time and battery themes consistently arise. Heres are 2 innovations that would desire to help save it commencing & what it might desire to be. One motor vehicle wasn't pushed interior the winters & if left it to long without driving does no longer initiate the two. So each few days i might initiate it for a jiffy. If I waited longer then that i might desire a leap. i might in simple terms attempt this if i became you. yet another motor vehicle does no longer initiate & had to be jumped each morning. After paying for 3 new batteries we found out the Antenna became the reason. a technique or the different draining the battery. We disconnected the antenna and have not had a topic via fact. in all probability no longer what's inflicting your subject yet in basic terms a heads up that some thing small like that would desire to be what's incorrect.

Could be the battery.. have you checked that.. does it turn over?
Another thing to check is the alternator....
If you can get the car started.. CAREFULLY.. disconnect the positive battery cable.. Does it still run?
If so.. Its not the alternator
Could also be an inline fuse blown.. But you'd need that checked by a pro.

I just dealt with the same thing in my Wrangler. I even switched out the starter relay (looks like a fuse). It turned out to be a lose wire near the fuse box. What a pain that was to track down.

I just had to buy a battery for the same problem. It would not hold a charge, however if I got a jump start it would keep running. The fat that it kept running tells you the alternator is fine.

could be the neutral safety switch... that went on my old dodge and it did the same thing. also as said it could be the starter solenoid or battery, or just a loose connection to the starter or solenoid... that happened on my old caprice.

you have a intermittent electrical problem.....the worst kind......make sure all your ground wires are tight & clean......from the battery to the frame, engine to firewall.......it seam,s to be a loose connection.....or a faulty switch.......the problem is you can,t locate the problem untill it rear,s it,s ugly head.......but when it does......start tracing with a test light probe...this process is tedious but necessary.....start from the positive at the battery,to the starter,to the ign. switch,.....soon you will identify the culpret.....good luck!
