I left the key in the ignition of my 1950 flathead and burnt out the coil so i replaced the coil, points and condenser and now its backfiring. I checked the timing and its correct so I have no idea what could be wrong. Do I have to take the dist. out of the engine and adjust the points or something? Or could there be something wrong with the dist. or something inside the engine? Thanks

Lost keys to car, house, etc, but still have the 'service' key, which operates the ignition, door locks, etc. Unable to open the petrol flap though as this is locked with the central locking.

Urgent help needed, as unable to fill up with fuel and therefore can't get it to a dealers to get a new key!

In other words, what could a garage do or fail to do during a routine oil change that would cause the car to overheat shortly afterwards? We had our 2000 Jetta's oil changed and now it is overheating. Thanks.

I installed a new brake light switch because the old one was not woking. When I removed the old switch the contact plate was popped out of its pivot point. I installed the new one, and the lights worked until I pressed the brakes hard( almost to the floor). I removed the new switdh to find the same problem as the old one had which I had just removed. The pedal assembly has minimal play in it but I don't think it is enough to cause this failure.

My mom has a 96' cherokee that has a strange problem, it dies going down the road at times while it is running and at times will not start back up. Crankcase TDC sensor has been replaced fuel filters and coil. Nothing has assisted...it will just mysteriously die in the middle of the road and then usually it will start back... and run fine.

I replaced my alternator and replaced the corroded battery terminals, it still only shows 11-12 volts on my voltmeter on the instrument panel - I am assuming this means the jeep is only running on the battery - I guess on accessory, the volt meter says 10-12 as well - so if the alternator kicks in, the volts should go up to 14-14.5 right? I am just trying to rule out that its a low voltage battery -

When its cold out all the lights in my jeep (inside and out) flast extremly fast (like a strobe light) and I can hear a clicking noise on the inside of it like I am changing from dim to bright lights. Once it is warmed up it stops. Also lately when I am driving at night if I have the brights on they will go do dim without me even touching the control. I took it to a dealer and they told me it was a bad battery (which I replaced) but it still does it and wont do it when I take it in for them to look at. I think its my signaling switch or a short somewhere.
