if you've never done it---get a workshop manual and follow the easy instructions
don't try it without a manual-you'll only make it run worse

There's not really much to tune anymore. Minor tuneup might be new plugs and wires with all the little routine maintenance the book calls for. Major would include injector cleaning, compression check and all the 60-100k stuff.

the tune-up could be just to replace the spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, these are the usual things. some other items could be spark plug wires transmission oil and filter. these things even though they are easy to replace they may be a little harder to someone who has never done it. if you are not sure take it to a local shop.

replace plugs and wires if that hasn't been done in a while, along with the distributor cap, pcv valve and air filter.
