have had this car for 10 years, no problems. I go out today to start up, turns over but won't start, No spark. Check for fuel issues no problem, getting gas to the cylinders. 318 ci. automatic, electronic ignition (no points). I replaced plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, and ballast resistor, still nothing. Could it be ignition module? Coil? How do you detemine if these are operating corectly. What else? Thanks for the help.

One additional detail, just went out and checked new ballast resistor (white porcelain on firewall) and it is extremely hot, I tried to crank car over for about thirty seconds. What does that mean?

When this happens the car will not start unless I wait 5 minutes and try again. The times that it does start, the 'run on' thing does not happen. Today it died while I was driving. After 5 minutes it started and I continued on my way.

I KNOW I need to take it in, but I'd like to have an idea of what's wrong so I can decide... corner garage or dealership.

My "Check Engine" light won't come on.
I can't get IM'd.
Where is a good on-line site with good instructions for taking apart and getting behind my dashboard, which is a considerable job, i guess.

the sound seem to come maybe from the tie rods, but I'm not sure, I've tried lubricating but is hasn't helped, also, the sound happens mostly during hot or dry days, and goes away during humid or wet days.
Thanks guys

I have a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan. Several months ago I started having (random) no start problems. I tried to start it, it started, then died right down. I started it again, it started, then died right down, again -- then it wouldn't even try to start (like it was a dead battery "but wasn't"). After sitting for 20 - 30 minutes -- the van would start and run fine and would continue to start up fine for several weeks. Now, several times a week -- the van decides when it doesn't want to start, but letting it sit for 20 - 30 minutes doesn't work anymore. I have to wait overnight and the next day - go out and it starts ?? It's been put on a computer and it said it was the EGR valve. It was replaced and still at random it won't start and has to "sit". Ever seen this problem on the Caravan's ? Any help/suggestions would be appreciated!

The air was running fine on low then all the sudden one day I got in and it and it would only blow out air while on high. When on low and medium nothing blows out at all. What could cause this? I know its not a fuse.

I have a 1997 Nissan Altima. I know the CV Joint or complete axle assembly needs to be replaced. Can anyone out there gove me a ballpark figure of how much this should cost? I was quoted over $500, but by reading up on it, it doesnt seem that it should cost that much. Thanks!

Every once in a while (maybe every couple days) when I drive my car and step down on the clutch to switch gears, the engine continues to rev up, as if I was still pressing down on the gas. Rather than the RPM's dropping down like usual when I push the clutch and lift off the gas, the RPM rises up to about 3000 and stays until I switch gears.

Does anyone know what this could be?

The car is a 2000 Mercury Cougar.
