While a drop or two probably won't hurt, putting an entire pint of tranny fluid in your engine would probably kill it.

Transmission fluid is not oil. Though it is a lubricant, it is not the same stuff as oil at all. It may contain oil-- but it also contains other fluids like coolants. Engine oil does not contain coolants.

Any time you add someting to engine oil that is not engine oil or an oil treatment product desinged for engine oil, you reduce the thickness of the oil (the viscosity). When oil thins, it does not grease up the engine parts properly. When the engine parts are not greased properly, several things can happen.

The worst is that the engine can seize up, which means the parts kind of get welded together from the heat. When the engine seizes, the car stops running. The engine block would have to be re-bored and the engine rebuilt or you would have to replace the engine entirely. Basically, you will have an engine repair bill that costs thousands of dollars.

The best case is that the engine will wear-- meaning the parts inside it will wear down from grinding against each other. This can cause the engine to run less efficiently and it may cause weird noises. This usually results in needing to rebuild the eninge, which can also cost you a couple thousand dollars.

So. . you put oil in the oil hole. That simple. Car fluids are not interchangeable. You can't substitute one for the other. You'll kill your car if you do.

I put an entire quart in the old 302 ('93 F-150). But I use 30W oil for the rest. I've been doing this for 3 years every 3000 miles. Oil stays nice and clean. Like the others said, be careful not to get too low viscosity. I always change filter and add 1qt any kind of tranny fluid after 1 gallon Rotella Truck 30W, then top off with 30W as necessary.

I have used Transmission Fluid in OLD cars that the Engine is REALLY Gummed UP, Like 3 Qts.Oil-2 Qts.Trans Fluid.IT cleans the Hydraulic Lifters etc.""BUTT"" IT can ALSO breaks loose MAJOR crud & clog the screen on the OIL Pump. They drove it for a week - not over 40MPH - Then change OIL & FILTER..""BUTT"" do this AT YOUR OWN RISK.DON'T put it in a car that U really like UNLESS U might like rebuilding engines.""BUTT"" it worked good on the cars & trucks I used it on..

A very small amount might not hurt. Transmission fluid is a very high detergent and will “clean” up your engine. I would not take the chance for the small amount it costs to get your oil changed though.

This has been used as a motor flush, so your would probably break a lot of sludge loose. So change your oil and filter after this stunt and don't drive with this stuff in your engine.

It probably would not get enough lube with the right viscosity and the right heat resistance between the moving parts of the motor and the engine would burn out.

it depends on the amount you put in.
if not too much, i.e a cup full, then nothing it will still lubricate the engine.
a whole bottle may make the engine run at a higher rev and slowly burn the engine out.
